In my local Surrey Live they have been running the story of unwanted travellers setting up camp at Ashford Town (Middlesex) FC ground. Fortunately for all Ashford supporters they have now moved on. I was wondering if the football club called upon the services of our Rattlesnake to "bawl" them out. Sorry Eddie I couldn't resist that!

Hi Dave. Ho ho! The chairman sent an urgent message on Facebook just before midday on Saturday asking for supporters to call 101 and get a separate crime number. The more people that phone up, the more chance of the police doing something. Luckily, a Section was issued and the police got the travellers out within a couple of hours.
For those who don't know the ground's set-up, it's accessed via a gateway and an avenue of trees. The ground and main grass car park are to the left of the trees and two large open pitches, recently completely renovated for youth games and training, are to the right. The travellers broke through the locked entrance gates and, thankfully, drove round the perimeter of the open pitches to set up their caravans at the far end without ruining three months of hard work by the groundsman. They'd moved on from the cricket / hockey club further up the road where they'd made worse damage. Ashford's chairman aranged for a lorry load of rubble to be dropped in the entrance once the travellers had gone. The way Ashford played at the start of last season, they could have done with the rubble in their goalmouth! :-D
