This was Bognor's 3rd game in 7 days, so it was a big ask as we play catch up after our outbreak of Covid cases. It was an emotional night for Worthing but despite the acrimony during and after the game, the minutes silence was respected by everyone before the game. Worthing have an abundance of seasoned semi-profssional players and had a strong enough bench to ring the changes and it showed in the first half when they played possession football and dominated. There wasn't much atmosphere though and it looked, sounded and felt like a training match. So when they did breakthrough, on the run of play they deserved a goal.
It was a game of two halves though and when the Bognor fans fired up and made more noise than the Worthing fans, you wouldn't have known that the Bognor were losing and Worthing were winning, an obsrver would have thought it was the other way round. This lifted the team and they took the game to Worthing who were on the back foot. We had a great chance with Odokonyero hitting wide with the goal at his mercy and Worthing had to make a triple substitution to try to redress the balance. We looked the better team and deserved a goal and it nearly came when Robson diverted the ball from a free kick but sadly wide of the goal. But as in the Lewes match, Worthing went straight down the other end and a freak deflection gave them the security they needed.
On balance the result was probably fair as apart from the 2 chances, it didn't look like we were going to score and we were chasing the game. If either of those chances had gone in, it would have been a different game. I didn't feel aggrieved about the loss, as we have a lot of games coming up, 2 a week, so the Senior Cup is a bit of a luxury. So good luck to Worthing in the next round and the rest of the season.
I feel very positive about the club at the moment, it just seems we are building something here. We have come through Covid with a brand new main stand so we actually look like a club at the level we are at and representing a growing and expanding town. It is a young team and it reminds me of when Jamie and Dabba were building a side. The same things were said then and there were calls for patience. I think in Jack you have a one club man with over 50 years experience as player and manager added to Robbie with his Premier league experience and this combination has lifted the players to OVER achieve because on their day, they can beat anyone (they beat Worthing in October). Being young players, sometimes they lack confidence and belief but the fans gave them that belief and the team responded.
So to answer your question Steve, it was a fair result but I am not despondent because after that 2nd half display I know we can only get stronger and there are better times ahead.

Always good to hear your views JFTR. Spoke to Jack today and he has mixed feelings about things at the moment - there are negatives & frustrations, but positives too.

Yep fair result. Bognor devoid of ideas and quality against a far better side. More promising in the second half but never looked like scoring. Unfortunately the story of this season, and the one before, and the one before.....

Lol the one before and the one before that weren't completed because of Covid, so you can't tell anything from them #nullandvoid

Jennyfromtherocks, I really need to put right some of your so incorrect assumptions. Bearing in mind that Worthing made 7 changes to what Adam considers to be his strongest team. The average age of his strongest side is 22.9 years. The side that he put out on Tuesday had an average age of 25 including the legend "Buddy" 37 but rarely makes a match day squad nowadays and Dean Cox 34, who is on the bench most weeks. You bang on about Bognor being a young team, which they are, average age 22.6 (check it out) as opposed to Worthing 22.9. As for the number of seasoned Proffesionals that Worthing have, where are they? The only one I can think of is "Coxy". We have a young Manager who develops young players and that is why Worthing attract so many good young players. Omar Bugiel, David Ajeyobe, Lucas Covolan, Kwame Poku, Finn Stevens, Ricky Aguiar

Oh my Good Gawd, Jenny, just seen your last post. So because of Covid, nothing prior to that happened. Seriously, you need to talk to someone who lives in the real world.

Omar Bugiel, David Ajeyobe, Lucas Covolan, Kwame Poku, Finn Stevens, Ricky Aguiar Arran Racine? 😅 Another reason Worthing attract younger is because of the academy set up (unsure if it’s named that but you know what I mean) You’re correct he’s done well to teach and educate these players to become better. Kwarme Poku-remember when you announced you had signed him but he was already signed on for his club Ricky A-pinched from Lewes Youth. Lucas Covolan had played previously higher before joining you. But it’s fantastic to see and I love it for West Sussex football. Rocks have had their fair share also as of late,we just don’t go on about it 😌 Agreed I like Adam Hinshelwood philosophy and how he drills his teams, wonder what what have been if he got the Notts County job recently. Anyway no complaints on the two recent losses against you,and wish you well with your quest for the national south. Promotion. 👍🏽

I really need to put right some of your so incorrect assumptions. You bang on about Bognor being a young team, which they are, average age 22.6 You answer your question in your own sentence and confirm I am correct. As for the number of seasoned Proffesionals that Worthing have, where are they? The only one I can think of is "Coxy". I said an abundance of seasoned SEMI-professional players. This includes your top scorer Ollie Pearce who you got from us with 250 appearances, Aarran Racine, Darren Budd, Dean Cox, Harvey Sparks and Alex Parsons. The rest of your squad have been playing together since before the Covid outbreak, in contrast Bognor have assembled a new squad for this season. Worthing have an abundance of seasoned semi-profssional players We have a young Manager who develops young players and that is why Worthing attract so many good young players. Adam Hinshelwood is 38, so its kind of you to call him young. He also helped himslf to 3 Bognor players (including your top scorer), when we lent Worthing the use of our ground, when your plastic pitch was falling apart, so dream on. Oh my Good Gawd, Jenny, just seen your last post. So because of Covid, nothing prior to that happened. Seriously, you need to talk to someone who lives in the real world. I didn't say nothing happened just that the seasons were not completed, but I suggest it is you who don't live in the real world on planet Worthing, but then again as has been pointed put, someone who calls themselves redrag and hasn't noticed the similarity to a tampon, says it all. I rest my case.
