Honestly where do I even start? If that’s the fourth best team in this division then we have real problems. Basically we have just been beaten by a bunch of flat track bullies but flat track bullies who know how to get results and get decisions in their favour. However, we’re also masters of our own downfall as we almost kicked and lumped the ball around the pitch as much as they did. Unfortunately, when we did play some football we were more than capable of getting in behind them. Sadly that just didn’t happen enough.
I’m not sure why on earth we played our smallest striker up against an absolute giant of a centre half who just cleared absolutely every thing in the air. However, in Dan’s defence he is the best striker we have at the club in my opinion, so full credit to him for battling away and doing his best to make things happen.
The first goal was conceded at a very poor time in the game, just before half time and it looked a very scrappy goal from the other end of the pitch. It was a real blow as we had been more than in the game until that point and arguably the better side.
That then gave the home side the confidence to kick on after the break, and they duly get their second not long after half time. Again it didn’t look like the greatest bit of defending ever from us. After that we decided play some football and started to actually create things. During a 15 minute spell after they scored we got a fabulous goal back through a very well taken finish from Jordy, and we had them rattled. Sadly the ref seemed to prefer to give decisions in their favour, helped by them often surrounding him and screaming and despite a few half chances for us at 2-1, we conceded again right near the end and that was that.
For all our management duo keep saying about us being as good as anyone in this decision, well the league table doesn’t lie I’m afraid. Christ knows where our season goes from here in all honesty.
