I haven’t been able to get to many away matches in the last couple of years but was good to see a number of faces for the first time in a while. First half of this match was as good as you’ll see from the Rocks. Numerous chances were created as the Rocks faced the wind, with the home ‘keeper (son of Mark Schwarzer) making several fine saves along with Nathan crashing a shot against the bar, as well as heading the ball home but from an offside position. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before we would score. However the half time whistle blew and it was goalless at the break. After those numerous chances sometimes failure to convert can come back to bite you and and so it proved two minutes into the second half when the unlucky Joe Dandy put the ball into his own net, under pressure from former Rock Walter Figuiera. With the wind at their backs, chances in the second half were considerably fewer, reduced to half chances if anything. Late on, the home ‘keeper picked up what appeared to be an obvious back pass with nothing given. The ball went straight up the other end with a K’s player sent tumbling in the box which looked a penalty but again nothing given. Despite the fact it was effectively a mid table end of season dead rubber, it was still a fairly gutsy encounter but one in which we couldn’t add to Monday’s win at Carshalton. As for Kingstonian, this was their first league win for nearly two months.

Thank's Grandad Statto. I'm unable to get to any games at the moment so it's nice to read a fan's view of the game. Let's hope we can continue to improve and get some consistency back.
