I fully applaud the club for this initiative and that they are embracing NLD. However, I feel it would have been beneficial to have decided/announced this at least 24 hours earlier so that this could have been plugged at the Merstham game. Not everyone uses social media or websites so there will still be some at last night’s game still unaware. Hopefully the news will reach everybody by word of mouth or by picking up a Bognor Observer on Thursday morning. A well presented post Rob which I dont think any one would argue with. You make a reasonable presentation of the facts and l am sure they will be noted

Yes Statto. Hopefully with the local papers & a load of us pushing the message forward on all the social media sites the day will be a success. The weather forecast looks good which should help.

FR quipped ''Can you imagine Jacks reaction if the supporters club offered half price entry & all sorts of deals without him knowing.'' ...My point exactly xxx

I see the pitch forks have been sharpened for Jack but "the fans" are wide of the mark. Pete Helsby is right, the decision for early bird prices was made at the last Supporters Club meeting after the Cray Wanderers game on the 12th March. I was packing away after the Cray game so I joined the meeting late. I had to leave mid way because of a coughing fit and when I got back the committee were talking about early bird price entry among other things but I didn't link this to Non League Day.
So there is no reason why Pete Helsby would know because he is not on the Supporters Club committee and it is right to say that Non League Day was in the hands of the Supporters Club all along and these decisions were made at the beginning of March. Since then, several members of the committee have had Covid and 3 or 4 were missing from the Merstham game. These were the people who would have instructed me about Non League Day. However, an announcement was still made at the end of the Merstham game that the next home game was against Margate on Saturday and it was Non League Day. I expected an announcement to have been made about the details of NLD mid week and this was duly done.
I think "the fans" have to remember that we are volunteers (even Birmy said that) and have paid jobs that we have to juggle and sometimes people get sick, especially when Covid hasn't gone away and it does affect the smooth running of the club.
I missed the fans forum because I had to work, I understand that Jack stood down as manager and I was surprised, after all we were not in relegation trouble, just mid table, but it was always going to be Jack's decision when he stepped down whether fans like it or not. However, Jack has not been drummed out of the club, all that has happened is his role has changed and there is more involvement from a committee. In my role as tannoy announcer, I answer to Jack and Simon and that has not changed and I would not want it to.
I know it is not popular to say among some fans but I like Jack, I can only respect his 50 plus years of service to the club and the fact that he is Vice chair of the FA, Chairman of the National League and countless other football bodies. He was very kind to me when I had cancer in 2011 and he inspires the same loyalty in me as he did with the Pullens, as difficult as it is for some fans to understand that.It is through Jack's advert on the back of the Observer that I became active in the club in 2007. If there is no place for Jack in this club, then there is no place for me and I wouldn't want to continue to work (unpaid) for an organisation that behaves in this way. There has always been an unruly fan element in this club but Elsie Dinmore who first started supporting the club in the 1920s always preached fair play, decency and loyalty and this is not being shown to Jack by some fans.
I reject the ageist accusations against Jack that he is a "dinosaur", I have always viewed jack as forward looking and sharp and some of the things I have heard said about his football management bear no relation to reality. Most of all he listens. When I did the model bus for the 125th anniversary of the club in 2008, despite working in the model trade Jack was on the phone explaining to me how the model trade worked, he is that sharp. But what would I know, I don't get my knowledge from sitting in a pub drinking beer, I only have a degree and post graduate qualifications.
I have not written an epitaph for Jack and thought of memorials because I don't consider Jack to be in the past, I think he is very much part of the future of the club moving forward as others have said. It was noticeable that when Jack appeared in the ground that the team perked up in that Merstham game. Robbie, Jamie and even Birmy were all brought to the club by Jack who has immense knowledge and connections as a player, manager and Senior FA official and only a fool would deny it.
I think this is a classic case of THE TALE WAGGING THE DOG and as popular as social media is, when you have a group of anonymous fans who hide on whatsapp groups and behind made up names on this forum and demand accountability but are not accountable themselves then you have a problem. I think since Jack has stepped down some anonymous fans think there is a power vacuum that they should step into and while of course the club listens to fans views, it is not the job of anonymous individuals to lead via over the top hysterical reactions, it's not really leadership, just panic.
Maurice Warner's last words to me was a request to look out for Jack and I am honoring his request, so Mo's spirit lives on. I would also urge fans to stop this constant berating of the club and negativity, we are all truly sick of it. The club has a project going forward outlined at the fans forum and despite what "some fans" believe this club is well run. So forget your petty grudges that Jack doorstepped you once or your favourite player now plays for Worthing and instead support Robbie and Jamie, support the players and get behind the club, Come on you Rocks !!!

Rich, you're 100% right about that SC putting ideas forward and that's exactly what they were - ideas that were cascaded through the right channels. I'm certain everyone is aware we have no jurisdiction at all on pricing and discounts through the gate so could never have invoked them - we never have, we never will as we are not the custodians of the club. My only comment on this all is I hope going forward communication is clearer and more concise so we don't have to go through what happened Tuesday evening into Wednesday as that wasn't fair on a lot of people. But with the fans forum and plans afoot the future is bright and hope to see many of the plans come to fruition over time.

I've seen it all now, "Jennyfromtherocks" calling out someone for anonymity....
Probably muffled and incoherent, like on a match day 😬🤣🤣

A resounding success today on and off the field. Fact! Still believe it could have been even more popular if advertised earlier, but hopefully we remember in time next season
