Well, what can I say ? After a performance like that at Wembley, Littlehampton have made a mockery of football in Sussex. They were a disgrace, and performed SO badly, I think the Sussex FA should impose a fine on Littlehampton. I had been thinking of going to the game, but glad now I saved my petrol money. PS I heard from a reliable source there was some anti Rocks chanting amongst their fans .

Cant agree with any of that !! Out played on the day… Nerves or whatever , but to say a team is a disgrace after getting to a wembley final.,.. And the Sussex FA should fine them for their performance is utter crap … Sorry but I just cant understand comments like that, especially with our recent history of cup exploits

Totally agree with bognorbiker - and Barry wasn't even there! The Golds did their best but were beaten by a better side on the day. Their cause wasn't helped by a serious head injury to joint player manager George Gaskin on 37 mins. And Newport Pagnell opened the scoring with a 'worldie' in the first half. If anything they were a credit to Sussex football for getting that far and good luck to Littlehampton next season in the Isthmian League.

From what I understand, it was a very bad collision that left Gaskin flaked out and he was stretchered off to go to hospital where he stayed. I should think that knocked the stuffing out of Town because they were worried about the state of their mate.

After a few days to think about it, I'm sticking with my original opinion. Littlehampton's performance and the result leaves Sussex football, and like it or not that includes The Rocks, almost a laughing stock amongst the football fans of this land. Perhaps some kind of written apology published in a national newspaper would help, or refunding the supporters who travelled to Wembley, and perhaps a financial contribution to the Sussex football supporters who watched it on television would solve this issue .

Maybe we could also fine people for ridiculous posts.

I think 'barry' is either a wind-up merchant or just completely deluded. can't decide which.

Fair play to Littlehampton for their cup win last night. Credit where it's due. Pity they couldn't perform in the correct manner at Wembley .

'Perform in the correct manner'? They lost, for god's sake. It was their 61st game of a season in which they have won their league and two cups. What planet are you on?

For the avoidance of doubt (since I have the misfortune to share a first name with the other Barry) can I express my admiration for Littlehampton’s efforts last weekend - and yes, I was there. I didn’t hear any anti-Rocks sentiments either. The Golds fans easily outnumbered and outsang the Newport Pagnell supporters and were a credit to their club, their town and West Sussex. I also thought they were the stronger side in the early stages but were undone by a dreadful injury to player-manager George Gaskin and a ‘worldly’ long-range strike (which, at the risk of being uncharitable, may or may not have been intended). In the end, it was a disappointing end to a brilliant season and I look forward to following their progress (albeit from Nyewood Lane or Molineux) when they kick-off 22/23 in the Isthmian League.
Interesting footnote: I THINK this means the Rocks are still the only Sussex side ever to win a trophy outside the County - courtesy of our AC Delco Cup triumph against Hendon all those years ago?

Correct Barry A. Although Brighton have lifted a trophy outside of Sussex, albeit a play-off one (Cardiff Millennium Stadium in 2004), so not winners of a domestic cup competition.

Hastings Town beat Leek in the final of the Southern League Cup in 1995, with the second leg played away.

Pevensey beat Bayeux 1-0 in the final of the Anglo-French Shield in September 1066. According to the report in Daily Tapestry, the only goal was scored by Harry Godwinsson, a late signing from Stamford Bridge Academicals and despite the Pevensey goal being peppered by the French in the second half, they hung on to win. The Bayeux manager, Billy Norman, was not downbeat and said they were looking forward to their next match against Senlac City in October, even though it might be an uphill battle. If they won that, he said, it would be one in the eye for the Senlac manager, Harold King.

Hahahaha!
On another tip and t'ing (You see? At my age I can still cut the mustard with the kids in the 'hood!), I see the wonderful artist formerly known as Barry A has changed his 'tag' to the demeaning boredprose. Never boring, I hope the esteemed forum member changes his name to either Sun Zoom Spark (one of his favourite songs and, if either of us win the lottery, Nyewood Lane would be sponsored as Sunzooms Park) or Castle Vale, to where he owes me a groundhop after admittedly driving me and Alastair Laser last season to Coventry United - what an experience that was!

Too kind Eddie. I only ‘needed’ a new ‘handle’ because of a cock-up by Proboards (hence boredorose - geddit) which even The Gupster (to whom thanks) couldn’t find a way round. So my old account was effectively deleted and I start again as a newbie Forum member. Oh well - serves me right for changing my email address 12 years ago. Apparently.. As for Sun Zooms Park, I see your near-neighbours in Hounslow have gone one better and are now calling themselves CB Hounslow - evidently in tribute to the late Captain Beefheart. Looking forward to next season and a Castle Vale away-day!

Hahaha! The 'CB' in CB Hounslow United doesn't stand for either Don Van Vliet or breaker-break citizen's band. It stands for Cable Bar, the firm owned by the chairman and long-time club sponsor. I saw them at home to Salfords in the Combined Counties Division 1 on the afternoon of my first date with the poor woman who ended up marrying me. What a double-header that was!
As for changing email address...ahhh. I was recently persuaded to leave Virgin Media for a much cheaper option by Sky. Cockups all round. Sky outsourced the work to Openreach, a subsidiary of BT, who I'd left in 2014 in very acrimonious circumstances and didn't want anything to do with them but was stuck. The engineer turned up last Thursday and wanted to drill a hole in my front wall to attach his ladder (you can guess the response), then it was discovered that there was no Sky connection to me! Unlike Virgin Media, who use underground cables round here, Sky use BT's telegraph lines / poles and the nearest fibre optic was not on the telegraph pole next door but one 150 yards away. Cherry picker requested, didn't turn up until Friday then the miserable bugger drove off after an hour without the work done - as he was on a half-day and had finished his shift! The next available date was yesterday. Cable unprofessionally nailed along the side of my house to the router connection and it looks an eyesore, phone connection lost for six hours, and my first bill last night was £40 too much as they'd triplicated the router delivery charge and installation fee! Regretting the move already. Still got to change email address and tell everyone (work, utilities, friends etc.) which will be a massive chore!
