Another pre-season friendly away to big spending highly fancied Gosport. Bognor had their normal squad of signed players, youth players and trialists available again. For the first 25 minutes in the first half Bognor dictated play. Tom Chayale scored from a well worked corner, and should have had a second when his header hit the underside and bounced out. Last 20 minutes Gosport were the better teamand got a deserved equaliser just before half time. 2nd half saw the changes and the Bognor youngsters took the game to Gosport. A goalkeeping error/ good chasing down by Chayale again restored the lead.He then should have completed his hat trick but chose to pass rather than shoot and the danger was cleared. A keeping error gave the hosts a penalty and achance to equalise, however Taylor redeemed himself with a safe. A brilliant move involving Briffa, Holland and Chayale set up the latter, and this time he completed his hat trick. A good hard fought win with many positives. Onto Portsmouth on Wednesday and a chance to see how this exciting bunch of youngsters react to the occaision. At the moment things are looking promising. Up the Rocks !!!

A very good run out in Hampshire last night. We always find these kinda games tough, out muscled but we gave it just as good while playing some fantastic football. Nothing is won in pre season of course, but if we see those type of performances on the regular I’d have no complaints.
Up The Rocks.
