Next up for the Rocks is a trip to the New Lodge Stadium, Blunts Wall Road, Billericay. CM12 9SA. Bognor come into this game after a hard fought victory last Saturday against Herne Bay and a friendly victory midweek against Littlehampton having had our league game v Bowers & Pitsea cancelled. Bognor are at present sitting in in 10th place, whilst Billericay sit in 14th place. Despite being one of the pre-season favourites for promotion, Ricay started slowly but a recent turn of form has seen them shoot up the league and at present are 6th in the form guide. The blues have a good history having been formed in 1880. They are the 2nd most successful club in the history of the FA Vase, winning it 3 times. Recent years after the Glen Tamplin buy out has seen the club involved in the conference set up. When Tamplin left in 2019 the club saw decline in standards and were relegated back in to the Isthmian league in the 21/22 season. Bognor last played The Blues in 2016 beating them 2.1 at the Lane.
Fans going to the game are reminded that it is payment by card only.
The club has a large coach going to this game, there are a few seats left on it should anybody fancy it. Contact Dave Robinson for further information.

Having been informed that it’s a cashless stadium, I arrived at the turnstile with my card, only to be told to go to another one as it was a cash turnstile! Added to this, the food bar were only accepting cash as their card reader was down. You couldn’t make this up 😂.
As for the game….. well, what can you say? At 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go and with the hosts missing a number of sitters beforehand, it looked like it was going to be our afternoon. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be. A defensive slip saw the lead halved with a strike from the edge of the box with 15 minutes to go before the hosts levelled in the 85th minute. A point would have been a good result and probably the right result but the football gods really weren’t smiling on us in the 90th minute when what looked to be a clear foul on Isaac just outside the box was not given and Billericay raced upfield and won the penalty - and with Robson off the field getting bandaged - which won them the points. A disappointment in the end but we move onto the next - Weston in the trophy next week.

In reply to Robs post, I can tell you that I have re-read the email I received with home information for this game. It clearly states that it is a cashless ground.Itcementsthis by stating that admission, bar and food outlets accept no cash. This is why I posted this info on here for all to see.

After a nights rest and a chance to think about the game this was a result that is hard to take. A threadbare team gave their best but just couldn't get the final result. In fairness it was an end to end game, and even at 2.0 Ricay never stopped going. As early as the 2nd minute Tom Chalaye volleyed home a clear chance Bognor got the early goal from a corner put home by Robson. Both sides had chances but both teams lacked the calm infront of goal. 2nd half continues to be end to end. Chayale increased the lead. Nathan had a chance for a 3rd then it all went wrong. Robson carrying a nasty injury was continually on and off the pitch being patched up. Ricay punished Bognor when he was off the pitch scoring twice to get level. Last minute and Isaac is taken out in the opposition half a clear foul to everyone but the ref, Ricay go down the other end and win a penalty. Game over!!! Very disappointing. Credit to the great Rocks following which contributed to the hosts biggest home gate of the season. Bognor desperately need reinforcements for next weeks hard trip to Weston Super Mare.

Not much more can be said.
2-0 up with 13 minutes to play, you should be winning the game, but billericay had been knocking on the door all game missing at least 4/5 sitters. Genuinely thought Lady Luck would be on our side yesterday but it wasn’t meant to be. Had one to take but it’s still better than some of the dross we’ve witnessed over the years. I reckon you’ll see billericay start to make a good push up the league now.
Nice ground billericay, good sized crowd and good vocal away following.
Keep the faith.

Billericay started the season badly but things have picked up, that’s four wins in a row for them now. I expect they’ll be challenging up the top end towards the end of the season.
Pete, regarding the cashless post - if that’s the information you were sent, then that’s what you were sent. Nobody was doubting you. It’s the way of the world now with lots of places going cashless (Portman Road goes totally cashless from next month). It’s convenient for many but not ideal for everyone.
