This Saturday Bognor enter the FA Cup with an away tie at old rivals Burgess Hill Town. For those travelling independently the address is The More Than Tyres Stadium, Laylands Park, Maple Drive, Burgess Hill RH158DL.
The Hillians were founded in 1882, and have twice reached the 4th round of the FA Cup. In the 1999/2000 season they lost to Hereford and in 2014/15 season losing to Dartford. They also reached the last 16 of the FA Vase in the 2000/01 season.
At the present time The Hillians are in Division 1 South of the Isthmian league and a 1-0 win at Lancing on Bank Holiday Monday moved them up to 11th place. Mondays draw for Bognor moved the Rocks into 12th place in the Premier league.
Bognor's last games against Burgess Hill were in the 2019 season with the Rocks winning2-0 at Laylands Park and 8-0 at Nyewood Lane. Whilst the rocks start as favourites for this game, team selection could be made more difficult with injuries to Dan Smith and Harvey Whyte, and no knowledge as to the consequences of the red cards against Lewes.
For those unaware the rail service are on strike on Saturday but the club are running a coach to the game leaving Nyewood Lae at 12.15pm. Call Ken Wood on 07541523064 or Dave Robinson on 07876497929 to book a seat

Without a doubt one of the most disappointing performances I have seen for many a year. After entering the game on the back of a few decent results most Rocks fans were hopeful of a decent FA Cup run for a change. Alas it was not to be as too many of the Bognor players lacked pride of wearing the Bognor shirt and any sort of commitment. Players seemed to have the approach and arrogance that just by turning up because they were from a higher league they would win. Unfortunately nobody told Burgess Hill this and they were worthy winners , scoring a goal in each half. I am the first to give praise where it is due, and this year so far the team have played fairly well, but this was not acceptable and things need to improve or it will be a disappointing season ahead. Rant Over !!!!

Ahhh the magic of the cup, not the first time we have been turned over by Burgess Hill in the cup. But I know more get carried away by losses anymore than victories. This is a league team, last season it was a cup team that got to the final.
It may seem that the world has come to an end on the basis of one match, but it hasn’t. I suspect the players were mentally hung over from the Lewes game and the way it ended.
I can tell you what a bad day is, it’s being told you have cancer, twice but even then it didn’t phase me. It’s having your stomach decompressed or the side effects of chemo. Losing a football match seems important but next week we play again.
When I needed it, the players sent me a card on the day of my son’s funeral. So I owe them one. They have better quality mam for man than Burgess Hill and on the day the Hillians were better, but that is all.
So I am sat at home watching on footballwebpages and what I want to see is some fight, not only from the players but from everyone at the football club. After one set back in my cancer fight, I don’t give up, I try harder. As a club we need to get back on the horse. The Pullens called me the morale officers, for others I had rosey coloured spectacles. I don’t care about the label, just the effect.
So write off the last game as a bad day at the office, congratulate Burgess Hill and move on. I hope maybe to see the next game at the MKM arena, a hospital visit stopped me seeing Lewes.
But please no more doom and gloom, get on the front foot and believe. We have good players, hand picked with the 12th man scheme and they can make a difference in the league. Confidence is the key and with the right belief, we can do it COYR !

In the next round Burgess Hill are away to Sheppey United. Another couple of interesting ties: Eastbourne Borough V Worthing & Ascot V Lewes.
