Another draw for the Rocks in a game with luck on their side they should have won.
If anyone had offered the team a point before the game most fans would have snapped their hands off; yet at the final whistle the travelling Rocks fans were a little disappointed with only one point!
Producing a much improved performance than the defeat at Burgess Hill last week Bognor dictated early play.
With Burgess instruemental in the midfield and wingers Pattenden and Olaniyan causing havoc out wide Bognor dictated the early play. Pattenden hit the inside of the post which in most cases would have gone in. Bognor eventually went ahead through a superb goal by Mather following excellent play by Olaniyan and Gifford to set him up.
Bognor should have been 2 up shortly after when the dangerous Mather went through only for his shot to hit the inside of the post again.
Then as luck has it a soft free kick is conceeded and Enfield are level.
With half time approaching another fine bit of play out wide caused problems in the home defence but Giffords shot was cleared off the line.
Despite the intense heat the pace continued 2nd half. Bognor regainned the lead through Rabbets following a good burst down the and a shot through the keeper.
But Enfield battled back and a soft corner is conceeded and Enfield are level through another set peice.
Play continued to flow. Hall was called upon ti make a couple of smart saves; whilst sub Lethbridge caused problems when he came on but the final touch was missing.
All in all a draw was a a respectable result; the hosts said we were the best team they had faced this season and they had their highest gate of the season.
For the Rocks point of view a much improved performance, still only one league defeat so far and the team with so many new faces are starting to gel.
Another long journey next weekend away to Cheshunt who relegated from Nationsl South last season; maybe our luck will change there !!!
