This coming Saturday, Bognor again make the long journey round the M25; this time to Hertfordshire where we play Cheshunt. The Ambers play at The Stadium, Theobalds Lane, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire EN88RU.
The club were originally formed in 1880, however due to huge debts they disbanded in 1931. The club were reformed again in 1946, and joined the Isthmian League in 1977. Craig Edwards has been manager at the club since 1918, and he lead the National South League for the first time in 2021/22 season. Their stay was just for one season, finishing 2nd to bottom and returning to The Isthmian Premier league this year.
At present they lie in17th place with 4 points.
Bognor's record against Cheshunt is not good losing 2.0 at home andwinning 1.0 away in the 21/22 season. In the 2019/20 season Bognor lost both games 1.0 away and 2.1 at home. Here's hoping we change this pattern on Saturday. There is a shared coach going to the game, with just a couple of seats left to book a place contact either Ken Wood or Dave Robinson or see away day travel

Well what a disappointment !!! Despite such an encouraging performance the previous week against high flying Enfield the same 11 players that started looked like a different team. Bognor started brightly enough with Olaniyan causing problems on the left, unfortunately the final pass just evaded our forwards and we were unable to capitalise on the pressure. Cheshunt grew into the game, their long ball tactic caused the Rocks problems and we resorted to play a similar style which meant we kept giving possession away. Defensive frailties for Bognor continued and all of a sudden we are 2.0 down!! 2nd half we start brightly, but then yet again our inability to make a tackle allows the hosts centre forward to complete his hat trick as he runs unchallenged half the pitch. A soft penalty, which Gifford dually dispatched gave Bognor hope. Howick came on and tightened up the defence, Lethbridge came on and caused havoc in the home defence, opportunities were being created, but Bognor's afternoon of frustration continued as opportunities were missed or the final pass was just missing. Whilst playing better as the game progressed we cannot give away 3 goals like we did and expect to win games!! Players need to turn up from the off and at this level as they found out you will be punished if you switch off. Overall a hugely disappointing day; but we go again next week, and thankfully a home game after probably our two furthest away games on the trot.

That was a frustrating one - as you mentioned especially coming off such a positive performance at Enfield. Honestly feel we miss Kieran Douglas, pre and early season him and Craig seemed to have formed a pretty decent partnership.
Even dissapointed - the reality is I think we could have scored 6 or 7 easily, Giffs missed a couple late he scores 90% of the time. Obviously all personal opinion but I thought Jasper Mather was absolutely superb, he just continually wins balls he has no right too - was gutted and shocked to see him substitued after winning the pen. 90% of what we are doing is so good but at least 10-11 of the goals conceded this year have been from that one ball over the top, hope we can figure it out! Look forward to getting back to the lane, feels like months.
