Next up for the Rocks this Saturday is Concord Rangers F.C. from Canvey Island. Having been relegated from The National South League last season "The Beach Boys" have started slowly and go into this game with just 3 points from 9 games and sit in 21st position.
Concord are one of the newer clubs in the league having been formed in only 1967. In their early years they were successful in the Essex leagues until they got promoted into the Isthmian North league in 2007/08 season. In their 1st season in the league 2008/09 they made the play off final, losing 5-4 to Waltham Abbey in the final. They won promotion to the Isthmian Premier League in in 2009/10 season beating Enfield Town 3-1 in the final. Promotion to the National South League was gained in 2012/13 season beating Lowestoft 2-1 in the final. In their early years in the National South Concord held their own, and also made the FA Trophy Final in 2019/20 season losing 1-0 to Harrogate Town at Wembley.
After 10 years in The National South league, last year Concord returned to the Isthmian Premier League. The last time the 2 clubs played each other in the 2017/18 season in the national South, Bognor lost both games 2-1.
Rocks will be hoping for another home win at the MKM Arena, where we have been unbeaten for 10 games now!
Lets get behind the boys and shout them on for another 3 points

It was them that had the successful Cowley Brothers learn their trade at. Them and the club being a perfect match for each other and which proved pivotal to their successes.
Don’t let the league table fool you, another tricky test, but time to start believing in ourselves that we’re here to compete this season and be up there with the best in the division.

A hard fought game of 2 halfs. First half a lot of huffing and puffing but little end product. A situation not helped by losing our main 2 centre backs. Keiron breaking down in in the warm up, and Robo substituted after just 6 minutes after he suffered a physical attack. Not sure how that wasn't a red card? Infact Concords bully boy tactics should have seen them down to 9 players before half time ! Danny and Harvey did superb to deny any attempts of attacks Concord could muster up. 2nd half Bognor we were a different team.Always looking dangerous going forward. Mather capped a excellent game with a fine individual goal. Dan Smith added a 2nd which he thoroughly deserved. He also hit the post and had a goal disallowed. Lucas had a fine gama out wide and deserved his MOM. Fullbacks Anderson and Livesey-Austin also had good games. Cup match Wednesday followed by a hard trip to league leaders Hornchurch lets hope we keep the momentum going

Despite the unfortunate injuries to defenders I thought the player missed the most was Mat Burgess & the quality he brings to midfield. Yes the visitors were probably the weakest team I've seen at the Lane this season but their mass defending made it difficult to break them down so it was ironic that our first goal was a copycat of their attacking tactic, namely a breakaway but Mather executed the finish brilliantly. Great to see the attendance over 800 & a the atmosphere created.

Bit disjointed first half against a side that was willing to put every man behind the ball while slowing the game down.
Credit to the lads for sticking at it. First goal from Jasper was old school Rocks of counter attack forward play which resulted in a beautiful goal. Second goal coming from Lucas using his pace to read the direction the defender was going to then give Dan Smith the chance to his first goal back in a Rocks shirt. Great afternoon down the club, good size crowd, good atmosphere and that nice little feel good factor is back.

Cant disagree with that Goldy, we are just starting a run hopefully and its just great to see the spirit this team has. The club just appears to me to be buzzing, good atmosphere and the crowds keep supporting the club. Its great to be around!

Great game to win yesterday. They set out for a 0 0 from the off and time wasting. But luckily they were a poor side. But still Winning while Missing Douglas and Burgess 2 key players and Then robbo after 10 mins. Which may I add the tackle on him was a straight red for an awful tackle. Robbo is lucky he could walk off the pitch. How the ref gave a yellow I'll never know. The biggest thing yesterday without Burgess was his movement in midfield was massively missed. Harvey and howick looked class together at the back along with Anderson coming on and doing well. The lad on loan from Worthing looks a class act and hopefully we can keep him longer then his months loan. Everyone worked there socks off. Mather goal was a great solo effort. Muitt is looking fitter again and didn't stop running. No team seems to be able to handle lucas with his pace and skill. Smith got his goal which will massively help him. Calvin was amazing in midfield and I'm one who has questioned him playing there before instead of right back. But his work to win the ball get stuck in and driving forward is great to see. He is also alot better when he doesn't pick up a stupid early yellow card so he can carry on as normal instead of having to be careful. And all great stuff really.
A couple of things for me is how poor Issac has been recently. Can't fault his work rate but it's just not happening for him ATM. Hopefully that will change soon. And why does Calvin take every corner and free kick as they aren't very good. Surely the way lucas or Mather have been crossing recently would be alot better option as to be honest the set pieces can't get any worse. Alot of fans around us at the last few games saying the same thing to.
