Great stats Goldy. Interesting to see that the 5 sides above us 4 teams had bigger home gates than their normal average gate when they played us. We haven't played Horsham away yet !! Credit to all the fans that continue to grow in numbers both home and away 👏👏👏

I think surpassing the 1000 milestone on Boxing Day was a great short-term achievement for the club. A crowd of 1215 was a big step-forward from the 696 which was registered on Boxing Day last season when, coincidently, we also played Horsham at home. That’s an increase of 74%. I’ve agreed with Carl to draft a mid-season attendance update at the end of January, at which point, we would have played 18 home fixtures (14 league & 4 cup). I’m inclined to assess the league data more closely as, one, there are more of these type of fixtures in a season and, two, cup competitions typically present a unique picture i.e. overinflated due to playing higher league opposition (2016 FA Trophy vs Grimsby - 2629) or reduced if playing lower league opposition (2023 Sussex Senior Cup vs Horsham YMCA – 279). For assessment exercises, we can also consider factors such as the day of the fixture i.e. a Saturday, midweek or bank holiday, these variables also have an impact on attendance figures. We still have 4 home fixtures to play this month but, yesterday, Chatham was our 10th home league fixture of the season – to offer a snapshot on total attendances: After 10 home league fixtures 2022/2023 season (7 Saturdays & 3 midweek - 13 Aug to 7 Dec) = 5805 - Lowest attendance during this period - 372 vs Bowers & Pitsea (Tue 22 Nov)
- Highest attendance during this period – 697 vs Potters Bar Town (Sat 27 Aug)
After 10 home league fixtures 2023/2024 season (6 Saturdays, 2 midweek & 2 bank holiday - 15 Aug to 6 Jan) = 8220 (42% increase) - Lowest attendance during this period – 428 vs Margate (Tue 28 Nov)
- Highest attendance during this period – 1215 vs Horsham (Bank hol 26 Dec)
Although the 10-game cut-off is earlier in 2022/2023 and doesn’t include a bank holiday attendance, we’ve already identified that 2022/2023 Boxing Day game has been eclipsed by 2023/2024. We had also played an extra Saturday home fixture last season, which was a Sussex derby vs Hastings, so I’d suggest it offers a reasonable comparative assessment. What does this mean and why am I following this data closely? As a summary, I’d suggest the increase in attendances evidence that the club is achieving its priority of increasing the connection with our local community. On-field success is important but, regardless of results, it’s critical that the football club is proud of its town and vice-versa. There is a bigger picture to a football club's existence.

No, it's not. Suggest you check your maths before saying it's a 54% increase.
