Wow, wow what a game !!!1
The match had every thing as both teams went for it. Billericay came into the game as the top in form team in the league but this meant nothing to the Rocks. This fearless bunch of lads are showing they have no fear for any team as they really are a roll. First half the game was pretty even, both teams knocking the ball about well using the full width and trying to assert themselves. Matt Burgess who was superb marshalled the middle of the park, and his partnership with Ben Anderson is starting to blossom. Spencer Spurway and Robbo are really outstanding giving little away, whilst Harvey is reliving his youth and Joe Rabbetts is just enjoying his!!! If they are penetrated Ryan Hall is showing his true class. In fact he was the busier of the 2 keepers. Bognor had a few half chances but at half time 0-0 was a fair score. Cheered on by the magnificent Bognor crowd Bognor looked the stronger of the two teams in the 2nd half but both teams created little in the way of clear chances. Billericay can say they were unlucky when they hit the bar; where as Bognor would have said had they scored they would have been unlucky, like when we played them away. With time running out it the 87th minute super sub Tommy-Leigh Higgs Blasted home a great goal again. 1-0 and the fans in wonderland !!!! Just about a deserved win at the final whistle, the unbeaten home run continues; and the belief in this squad continues to grow. If we carry on like this absolutely no reason why we can't make the playoff's; the gap is narrowing all the time. Whilst I feel we may have left the run a little late, and we may be left to regret silly points we dropped early season there is no doubt that if we keep this fine bunch of lads together we will definitely be a force next season. In the meantime I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope we can make it this season.
On other matters I hope the club get as many players signed up early for next season as there is no doubt there could be a few clubs sniffing around the MKM Arena over the next few games looking at this fine crop lads. COYR's !!!!!!

Don't know what's happened to Matt Burgess; if he keeps on playing like that, he'll be playing for England. The only way Rickay could stop his runs forward was to foul and rely on their friendly ref. BTW, I can definitely confirm that the ref is not related to the Rickay No 16 and the Lino on the main stand side can spell orf-sid. Didn't see the inevitable TLH goal but it's very naughty of Robbie to keep us wondering about us scoring until he decides to bring him on - very clever if a trifle risky.

I said a couple of weeks ago that something was brewing.l think a lot of us felt the team was gelling into a very good unit. The team spirit is very high and l think they all genuinely believe they can achieve something. Unbeaten at home, 6 wins onthe trot and the Rocks faithful backing the team to the hilt.

Wow. What a amazing win yesterday. Great team performance. And great crowd and noise again today. The goal was a great ball across the pitch by Anderson then Lucas doing what Lucas does best and Tommy Leigh Higgs in fine form doesn't seem to miss at the moment . I Found it strange he was dropped to the bench. Which surely next game he will start. It's a worry about Dan Smith he just isn't the player he was before he left us.

I think with regards to smudge - while the goalscoring hasnt been there hes still been a big part of what we are doing and the form we are on. His physical presence and ability to hold the ball with his back to goal and bring others into play has been a big part of how we go about things.
Robbie has a lot of selection choices to make - what a great problem - Burgess and anderson look absolutely different class when they play together, right from the first half they played at billericay before Ben got injured, its got to be hard to drop either when Calvin returns from suspension. Isaac has been unlucky not to play but again I agree that Mather has been a huge plus for us all season. Going to be hard to leave Tommy out obviously as well but that would require some tweaking of how we are setting up!
All in all, exciting times - not just for the rest of this season but going forward with such a talented/great group of young localish players.

Rocks 1 Billericay Town 0. That was another biblical performance. Billericay were a good side and one chance is all it took to beat them. Tommy-Lee Higgs comes on again and makes a difference. So many good players this year. Teams hate playing us at the moment.
Peter Kelly-Sullivan interviewed Robbie Blake after this marvelous win at the MKM Arena:

I had looked for anything on their website and forum yesterday, in response to what was probably one of the best games that l have witnessed at The Lane over the last 10 years or so by both sides. Thanks for finding that and posting it Goldy. As you stated, a very good interview and how refreshing to hear. A real turnaround from the Directors, Staff and players to what we have experienced in the past, (well done Billericay) !!!

And here’s what their manager had to say. Good interview. [/quote] He was also really honest and accurate after they somehow won the reverse fixture up there. Def makes a change from some other managment/ownership groups lol. I think they prob shaded it on the day in terms of the quality of chances they had but in tight games it takes that single moment of magic to get the three points!

Great match and result against a quality team , first half was even but the second half, more pressure from the Rocks with a super strike and deserved goal from Tommy-Lee Higgs. Some good performances and very watchable matches from the Rocks lately , hopefully leaving autumn's inconsistency behind (and last season this would have ended 1-1). Continue this form , could be an exciting end to the season.
Good post match assessments from Robbie and Gary McCann. And a good you-tube highlight video
