I'm looking forward to our first match of the season and like most other Rocks fans I'm full of hope without having too much of a clue about how strong any of our opponents are going to be. Bishop's Stortford were struggling a little when lockdown came along in March and will be hoping to have an upturn in fortune. Prolific goalscorer Jamie Cureton has now moved on at the age of 45 to join Essex Senior League side Enfield after a career banging in goals throughout the Football League.
Last season The Rocks also travelled to Bishop’s Stortford for our opening game of the season. Unfortunately on that occasion we lost 3-1 after being 3-0 down at half-time. The Rocks only goal of the game coming from a 74th minute Dan Smith penalty. Our home fixture against Stortford was due to be played on 24th March but unfortunately was one of our fixtures not played due to the Isthmian Premier League season being abandoned.
From The Rocks starting line-up from a year ago it’s likely that only four players, Harvey Whyte, Keaton Wood, Ashton Leigh and Tommy Leigh could be starting on Saturday.
With league football being played behind closed doors it will be interesting to see how much of a boost non-league clubs receive.
Let's hope non-league football is able to cope with the challenges that Covid has placed upon us.
Totally useless fact: Alphabetically it’s a top of the table clash with the start of the season table showing Bishop’s Stortford edging above second placed Bognor Regis Town due to i coming before o.

Totally agree with you Peter and Lee. When you look at the picture on Twitter of the shirts hanging up in the dressing room at Bishops Stortford it makes you wonder. How the heck can the football authories and the Govt allow anything to take part with such small facilities like that. There's no real room for social distancing. Huffing and puffing unintentially over one another; it's just a honey pot made situation.
I know he's invincible but I hope JP keeps out of those tight situations and plays it sensible. Football is only a game, not a life and death situation as a lot of followers would like one to believe.
Edit: And watching tonight's FA Cup game all the bloody morons packed behind the goals . . . . it's just a damned joke.
