A superb 53 minute winner by Ashton Leigh gave Bognor their first of the league season. Holidays and injuries robbed Bognor of 5 of their players and new signing Tom Cooney made his new debut having signed today. Play flowed from end to end with chances few and far between. Bognor had the ball into the net in the first half only for the ref to blow his whistle too early and not play advantage. For all their possession Horsham created very little and Bognor finished the half the stronger of the 2 teams. 2nd half was more fast and furiouswith Bognor still in control. When under any pressure; Robb;Cook and Wood were more than equal. Good play by Flannigan set up Ashton Leigh and he remained calm before slotting Bognor ahead. Horsham pushed forward but caused Amadeau very little danger until the last 10 minutes; and then the Bognot keepers demonstrated how important he is to the team. Bognor should have had a late penalty but a blatant handball was not given and the Rocks were left to hang on for brave victory

A fine display by the lads, though I'd say we were lucky to grab the three points and sneak them home in the minibus.
The first half was nip and tuck without Tuck, who was injured. Early in the second half we scored with the best move of the game, but were somewhat lucky that most of Horsham's efforts in a frantic last 20 minutes were straight at Amadou.
The winner was sublime - a diagonal ball ten yards inside Horsham's half to the left wing, cleverly dummied en route which took a defender out of the game, and a cross into the middle thwacked high into the net by Ashton from ten yards out.
Horsham were frenetic and sometimes played as if they expected the pitch to give a little, but the ball pinged about relentlessly. The ref brought back play a couple of times when advantage could have been given, and there was at least one cast iron penalty (maybe three between the teams) that he waved away.
Nice new ground Horsham have got. The fans I spoke to on the way out were friendly and matter-of-fact about the result. As for us, a win is a win. I'll take that!

The ref did play advantage but when Jordy scored the linesman flagged for offside so the ref brought it back.
Brilliant game for a neutral, end to end. Amazing footwork for the goal,do the Leigh brothers score rubbish goals? 😅 MOTM has to be Amadou for me,superb tonight 💚 Onto Saturday...

And they say things even themselves out over the season, well tonight luck was on our side for a change. I'm liking the way the team are getting a little more physical and not just rolling over in challenges. Lots said about MOTM but I want to say a massive shout out to Lee Roberts. I was sat directly in front of him and his commentary added to the excitement of the occasion. Even the Horsham fans sat in front of me were highly complimentary about him. Keep it going Lee, you're another jewel in this remarkable club.

that's strange Pete as it works for me. In any case, it is now the same report that Steve has used for the observer.

Didn't look much social distancing going on judging from that clip.

I fully agree with you Hawk. It's just a ruddy joke; there's very little social distancing. It's not going to happen to us attitude. And then the tears flow. I'm sorry but it should be behind closed doors FULL STOP.

The problem is that clubs in our division are allowed up to 600 spectators, being 30% of the official minimum capacity for a ground in the Isthmian Premier regardless of any ground's overall capacity, Bognor's being 4,600. Horsham's ground is just below the minimum allowed capacity of 2,000 but I believe they have special dispensation at the mo as they're still augmenting a very recently built ground, hence they were allowed a maximum of 595 spectators on Tuesday.
On the side below that camera gantry were two Arena / Atcost stands, each with capacity for 50 spectators. I was in both, close to the penalty area Bognor were attacking - there were 8 people in the standing cover and 6 in the seated stand, the latter having every other couple of seats taped over.
It's the grouping behind the goals teams are attacking where the issues really lie. Not having a go at our loyal lads who like to chant and sing - it's been like that at several games I've been to this season.

And all down the touchline as well, camera side Eddie. I want to see football back at this level Eddie as much as yourself. I would need to keep safe just the same as you in the stand but I'm afraid the way things are going it isn't correct and something needs to be done.

I think the solution is quite simple they either socially distance or are told to leave. If someone who is tasked with enforcing the restrictions ie police etc witnesses groups standing together as described then I anticipate there will be repercussions.

Just one point though Mistral. Even if the boys in blue had enough officers around I very much doubt you would get a club at level paying for them to be in the ground.

I’m behind the goals in the clip. The social distancing aspect looks far worse on film then actually there in person. We was pretty good, all being a metre apart in my section. Some stood in their “bubble” which is also fine. Don’t get me wrong there was times were I’d say to people easier how close you’re getting but some people will get some won’t. When the goal went in it was hard not to contain your excitement, but there was no hugging or high fiving so to speak.
I’ve worked in a supermarket all through this pandemic and that has been 100% worse than the social distancing at Horsham.

Another point in the social distancing is that at stortford on the first day,we were very politely asked to spread ourselves out a bit so we were able to observe both social distancing as well as the group of 6 rule.this was obviously done without any questions.i agree with goldy that the pictures give a very distorted view of the actual situation and generally all aspects are properly observed

No questions fired back.
