Browsing through I spotted a report in the Southampton Daily Echo of 17th September 2001
Former Rocks striker Anton Romasz signed for Fareham Town. Doesn't say where from; he travelled around a bit.
He also played cricket for Lurgashall. I have memories of him roaring in towards me with the leather ball in his hand and also tearing off to Petworth when his Fireman's bleeper went of. Long time ago now!
I wonder if Andrew R has this one down in his notebook. Would it be a record for Rocks cautions?
Bashley's new boss Bob Higgins masterminded a convincing 3-0 result over Ryman Division 1 high-fliers Bognor Regis Town in only his second game in charge.
The Foresters may still be without without a Dr Martens Eastern Division win, but they defied the odds to score through a sixth-minute Fraser Quirke header, a penalty from fit-again skipper Darren Robson, after Stuart Hussey had been tripped, and a stoppage-time third from midfielder Anthony Tilley.
The referee had a busy afternoon, cautioning 12 players - eight of them from Bognor - and sending off Rocks defender Kevin Murphy for a second cautionable offence on 70 minutes.
The luckless Sussex side also had striker Simon Funnell stretchered off with a head injury, hit the post through Nicky Wyatt and had a major penalty claim waved away on 78 minutes.
