Dont think any of what Jack has said should come of any suprise to anyone. I think since the Maldon and Tiptree game, it has quickly become abundantly clear that there was going to be another lockdown. I have a feeling that we wont possibly restart step 3 and below until at least March, If that. We couldnt possibly complete the season by the end of June. Its a real kick in the teeth once again. But safety, for players, staff and supporters has to be paramount and football must come right down the bottom of the pile when we have such a severe situation as we do at present. Please look after yourselves and your families and lets hope we all can meet back at the Lane when it is 100 per cent safe to do so.safe to do so.

Thanks for the update Steve and also for all the other articles you are writing during these strange times. It's great that you're keeping the Mighty Rocks in the local newsfeed.
I guess it's no surprise that this season is about to be declared null and void. Let's hope that all non-league sides are able to survive the long suspension of matches being played. With the hope that most of the nation can be vaccinated by May, it would be great if we had some football to watch before normal pre-season friendlies start in July again.
Maybe a series of local friendlies just to help everyone get back into the swing of things around May/June if the authorities deem it safe to do so? We can but dream.

Maybe a series of local friendlies just to help everyone get back into the swing of things around May/June if the authorities deem it safe to do so? We can but dream. The three leagues are on the point of asking the clubs to complete a short of survey. They will be asking the clubs if they think the season should be Null and voided. They will also ask clubs for any ideas they may have if not null and voiding the season, what they would suggest as the way forward. I think it will be a majority census result and I cant see any other way of a decision other than null and void, personally speaking. I think that hand on heart, despite getting the vaccines to those areas and ages identified by Mid February, I don't think that will make the slightest difference to footballs situation. It will be an excellent thing if they do this, but there is one salient aspect that tends to be forgotten. That is the fact that the scientists are unsure whether those vaccinated can still pass it on to other people even though they may not catch it. That, in my view, puts the safety of anyone not vaccinated at risk. The situation is dire for the game. With the ever-increasing number of deaths and new cases, Im afraid there is only one thing that can be done and that is to forget playing again at this level until the virus is fully under control. Jackswooleyhat has mentioned everyone being vaccinated, but Ive just read that the forecast for this to be done is by autumn, not May. Personally, Im not sure it will be wise to start another season until all is completely clear, if there is ever going to be such a thing. I would also suggest that the way ahead for all the so called elite clubs will very soon be subjected for a long pause too.

JWH - thanks for your comments. Re the null and void plan, I am hearing quite a few clubs and fans saying why not 'freeze' the league tables and continue the fixtures whenever we can, given that we don't know how mucf of the Aug 2021 to May 2022 period will be ok for football. What do people think? Bear in mind that if that had happened with last season and this, we would now have a completed season.

For instance contracted players contacts for example. Players leaving clubs at the end of contracts and signing for other clubs. Im sure there are plenty more if you give it some thought.
