A little off the regular topics. I'm wearing under my shirt a Rocks TShirt which must be 30 years old. It think it goes back to the days when Mike Rowland was in charge of merchandise. I wear it regularly. They don't make em like that any more!
I think that might be one of my productions.
I had a logo designed with "The Rocks"and "Est. 1883" across it and had it screen printed on t-shirts and sweatshirts.
They were available in grey and white.
I basically sold them on the terraces and in the social club out of a holdall.
I think I sold about 50 of them, they were very popular. From memory the T-shirts were about £7 and the sweatshirts were £12. They were good quality USA made items. The printing shop down Glamis Street did them for me.
The other thing that I did that I was quite proud of was I got about two hundred car stickers made that we gave away free of charge as long as the recipient promised to put it in the rear of their car.
At the time it cost about £80 to get them printed, but for years afterwards you could always see loads of Rocks stickers all around the local area in the back of vans and cars.
Both efforts successfully boosted the profile of the club locally which was the aim of the exercise.
