Where do we start? Some positives. The team never give up. Decent point against a good side. However we keep making the same mistakes. We’ve got a great keeper. Decent defenders. We are even playing two defenders in central midfield but still look wide open at times. That shouldn’t happen. I mentioned in my last post the ‘feel good’ factor at the club which had seen fantastic gates heading towards the 1000 mark. Worryingly today’s was 200 down on our last Saturday home game. Just for perspective if Potters Bar hadn’t thrown away a two goal lead v Leatherhead they’d be above us. Their gates average 200 compare to ours at around 750. Only Worthing & Folkestone average more than us & they are first & second in the league so surely this means we are massively underachieving? If I’m missing something here I’m happy to be corrected. We are eight points off the play offs but a successful Xmas period could change everything. COYR.

I'm not going to comment on our defenders but have a query about the clubs policy on the admission of animals. I had to sit next to some away supporters who had three dogs (not guide dogs) one of which hardly sat still. What with their other supporters getting up and down every five minutes or late getting back to their seats after half time, I found myself constantly getting bumped into by the biggest dog. Apart from guide dogs, what is the clubs policy on letting animals come into the stands?

Much sympathy with fyfe1 about excessive up and down to accommodate moving spectators but that's all down to courtesy and if you want courtesy, don't go to football matches. Wouldn't think the club should have a policy about dogs but as far as animals are concerned, most of them were down in the Enfield technical area (or out of it). But the match - we have seen it all before. Give the opposition a few goals start, then start really playing in the second half. Hugely entertaining and even knowing the Rocks would not win, I would go and watch that every week. Terribly frustrating for the management, I know. Good to see Dandy back.

That was a cracking game today. In the first ten minutes a feared a total embarrassment, but the one thing l love about this side is their spirit and eagerness to recover. We just keep doing it. Once again we suffered mistakes early in the game but in a first half we really started to play and took the game by the throat. You could see why Enfield are where they are but in the 2nd half we took the game to them. We had them on the rack and l cant remember a game where we had so many shots blocked or diverted. It was a siege at times. We played some really slick football and we are not far off as a side. If we can stop these individual errors we will put a good run together and who knows.

Another frustrating afternoon. Again we gift the opposition a 2 goal start. All be it a superb finish for the first. We get a goal back before half time to give us a shout. 2nd half the better side especially when Enfield went down to 10.( do hope their guy who was sent off has his wages docked for kicking in the door!!😡😡)
Despite 10 men behind thr ball we again get back to 2.2. Had chances to win, but were indebited to Amadou for a superb last minute save. The antics of the Enfield management left a lot to desire. A really nasty bunch!! Honours even well deserved. 2nd in the form guide away from home, 16th on home form says it all. We keep saying it but we need to learn as a run like Horsham are on would put us in a play off position.

Some excellent thoughts on this thread. Agree with Pete. We are close. But to be fair we’ve been close all season. The management are still saying the same things after each game as they were in August. In almost every game we look a ‘pub’ team for spells then excellent at other times. Another huge plus has been Nathan. He’s really come on. I’ll leave you with one comment from a ‘sensible’ Worthing fan who’s watched us half a dozen times this season. “You won’t go up playing two right backs in the most important area of the pitch, centre midfield” Thoughts on that statement please? It’s an area i’ve touched on a few times.

Felpham Rock, the underlying answer to the point in your first post and in the last one is money. The major factor in football success, other things being equal and, of course, they are not, is the playing budget. Gates do not automatically equate to the size of the budget; there are other income streams or not, as some clubs have found when they overreach themselves financially. On the last post, I don't know who the second right back is who is being referred to. Calvin is one, of course. Harvey started here as a winger, then right back and then mid-field. Ashton started as left back. Jake only played mid-field temporarily on Saturday due to the injury to Harvey. So, I think the Worthing fan needs to get his facts straight. Even if true, it is a simplistic point. As we all know, it is all down to money. In my view, the Rocks perform very well on their playing budget, enhanced by some astute management and coaching. I find the current team very exciting to watch.

On the subject of Calvin, if you look back at his football history he started playing as a number 4 and even joined Pompey academy as a No4 it was only when Pompey youth didn’t have a right back he changed position.

With Jake as our Right side of a back four, Harvey in front of him as right side of midfield that is a strong right flank. Calvin is having a good season in midfield. All that is wrong at them moment and is being highlighted by management, is individual errors costing us dearly. We have drawn 9 matches because of them and it has cost us dearly. Knock them out of the equationa, we are a match for anyone.

Here's a report from Liam & pic from Martin ... would be interested to know how many points the Rocks have claimed from losing positions this season - must be quite a few. The answer to your question is 9. Drew 1-1 with Horsham after conceding the opening goal. Drew 2-2 with East Thurrock, Potters Bar, Wingate & Finchley and Enfield after trailling 2-0. Equalised three times to drew 3-3 at Haringey. Won 3-2 against Leatherhead after conceding the opening goal.

Some fair enough answers to some of the points made. It was Harvey & Calvin the Worthing fan was talking about. He’s seen then both at right back & rated both & was surprised to see them in midfield. The interesting point was massively higher gates do not increase the playing budget someone said. I’m sorry but that’s a head scratcher for me. So what does?

Football is about opinions. I’ve stated mine. I think the team is unbalanced & underachieving. It seems everyone else doesn’t agree with me as no one has come on here to say likewise. That’s fair enough. It’s opinions. As I’ve said we all see things differently. Non league football is no different to when I played for 11 years & was club secretary for three in the 80’s & early 90’s. Invariably the teams at the top of the league either had ‘sugar daddies’ or the highest gates. Us with the third highest gates in the league should be higher than mid table. Funny thing is I bet Jack & Robbie would agree. Bottom line,we all want to see us winning games. Like an earlier post said we need to do a Horsham & go on a consistent winning run.
