I had the pie, mash, and peas for lunch. The mash potato was so lumpy it was untrue. Anyone else have issues?

My apologies fyfe1, I just assumed that was your biggest complaint because you made no comment about the game. Care to share about what went on during the actual game ?

Come and see me at the next Bognor v Worthing match and we'll discuss it face to face. You won't be able to miss me, my name is on my seat next to the Away Directors. See you then.

Judging by your comments on other posts it will have to be on lumpy potatoes! See you soon.

Come on, lads. cut it out. Truce, for goodness' sake.
Anyone at the game was lucky to see it as I've had Covid all over Christmas - a complete washout - and I break out today (Sunday).
Can we have a review of the game, please?

Well I have had a good sleep, got over my frustrations and anger and thought about the game before commenting. This period over Christmas was meant to be a defining time with Bognor attempting to push up into the playoff positions. In the reality of life we are nearer to the relegation places than the promotion spots. Mondays game is now vital or we are going to be dragged into the mire!!! Lewes were bigger, stronger and had a game plan, we didn't. We lacked experience and ability with a injury ravaged side. My problem is we have 3 players out on dual registration why has the management not recalled them? Decisions were made today which I am sure a lot of the fans could not understand. How many times did we give the ball away trying to play out of defence? When Havant got beaten 8.0 the other day by Dorking Dodswell got up and said that he as manager along with the coaches needed to share the blame. We have in my opinion the same situation here. Our management at the moment show little emotion and seem more intent on disagreeing with each other!!! Lewes went ahead with a good strike on half time just after the Lewes keeper made an amazing save the other end to deny Nathan. Such is our luck at the moment but it was well deserved. 2nd half we were better despite another poor ref giving Charlie a 2nd yellow. ( how bad has the officiating been over this Christmas period? Not an excuse but a general observation) With only 10 men for 35 minutes Bognor more than matched Lewes. Amadou made a couple of decent saves but generally an even half until the 90th minute when our superb ref gave a very dubious penalty to the hosts. It was amazing how he saw it from 30 yards away yet failed to see the foul on Joe Cook right under his nose in the first half😡😡😡!!! Overall we got what we deserved Our management now need to regroup and as I said early ensure we are in the right frame of mind for a serious relegation battle, points are needed now!! Forget about Worthing lets get things right so we end the season in a positive mode to take into the 22/23 season. Finally a special mention to the 500/600 fans yesterday who were brilliant as usual. Shame some of the players didn't show their appreciation at the final whistle😡😡 to those players hang your head in shame !!!

What an outstanding and well articulated post City boy. If I didn't know any better I'd say you got help writing that, but your observations are absolutely spot on.

Think Cityboy sums the game up nicely. If we had gone in at 1-0 at half time it would have been against the run of play. I’ll never criticise people/players,but based on the last two games over the Xmas period we’ve been over ran in midfield again. We Fanny around the back way to much, with it not doing a lot. No real urgency,we miss a Birmy/Beck type midfielder that will come and get the ball and drive the team forward. I think there is to many players out there, for personal gain/glory rather than doing the easy option. But I guess that’s why we enjoy watching this level. Some fantastic attendances around Sussex yesterday again, and long May it continue. There is no quick win,but maybe time to mix it up a little with how we approach games.

Well said Cityboy not like you to criticize management so strongly but I think you are probably just saying what a lot of supporters (certainly those that stand near me) have been thinking for some time. However no chance of any change so will just have to settle for enjoying coming to the Lane to watch footie at this level & hope we can secure a mid-table finish. Although as you mention decisions by officials can be baffling at least we don't have to endure some of the more ludicrous VAR dramas. Happy New Year everyone!

Upon further investigation I find that one of the 3 players I was referring to is injured, whilst Jason Parish has apparently had his contract cancelled !!! It would seem we are without any luck in all areas at the moment😡😡

Shame some of the players didn't show their appreciation at the final whistle😡😡 to those players hang your head in shame !!! Absolutely nail on the head with this post City Boy. Unfortunately something either needs to change in the dugout or we need a good clear out of players which we all know isn’t realistic at our level of football. Either the players have stopped playing for the management team or they’re not listening anymore which listening to some of JP’s and RB’s recent interviews seemingly is actually the case anyway. In my humble opinion there is a mixture of 3/4 players simply not good enough for the level, this level has gotten better than we left it behind for one season, 3/4 players playing way below their actual level which can probably be contributed to not listening anymore. The other factor is injuries to our most experienced players. We we got relegated from the National South it was because we didn’t have a plan B when plan A wasn’t working and that is still the case four years on. We’re simply now just drifting as a club and if we’re not careful it will be drifting back into step 4 again! One thing we have to ask ourselves is where else in the pyramid is the owner also the manager? Hardly any accountability is there really.

I think it's fair to say that both lewes and worthing deserved to win both games over the last week.ys we couldve possibly had a penalty for a foul on cookie but I blame the linesman rather than ref as so much goes on in the penalty area at set pieces that the ref can't look everywhere whereas a lino has an unobstructed view.also Nathan forced a magnificent save before they score a fantastic goal a minute later but realistically we were never really in the game throughout.we are just too nice and naive physically so get bullied too easily.we should however remember that it had taken 5months for us to lose an away game in 90mins except for hayes so it's not as bad as maybe it seems.as others have said we are in a possible relegation battle but as horsham have shown it only takes a couple of wins to shoot up the table.

I think we have to put the last 2 games in perspective, that we have played 2 teams in the top 3. In years past our local Xmas derbies would have yielded points but Worthing & Lewes are stronger, Horsham have found that out too (lost 1-3 to Lewes & Worthing over Xmas & New Year) and they have been on a good run with seasoned semi pros. Also we have players returning from Covid (tomorrow's game is postponed as more players have Covid) and we picked up a red card too. Bognor always play on a budget and a young squad have to be developed and taught how to play out from the back. That Trophy run didn't come overnight, Jamie Howell had a 5 year plan. I think 2022 will be better for us and we have a very promising striker in Nathan. The glass is not half empty, its not half full, it is always full. Keep the faith ! COYR !

The perspective is the vast majority of our fans didn’t expect anything from those two games. Yet even Jack says we should be challenging for the play offs so we should be on that level. As for playing out from the back. It’s fine if you have the players. To make it work you need specialist midfielders who are happy to accept the ball in tight situations & either pass through the ‘press’ or turn the man closely marking him. We haven’t got players who can do that so it goes back to the defenders or keeper & one of two things happen. We give the ball away or boot it fifty yards up the pitch to forwards who can’t head the ball & want the ball to feet. So we either need better midfielders or we have to change our approach? We are too easy to play against.

Does anyone actually believe that 2022 is Bognors year? I personally cant see any change in the situation any time soon. How long does the club keep trudging on with this leadership? Time for a massive change, new blood is required!

Time for a massive change, new blood is required! Completely agree. We should look to sign promising players from nearby clubs next season. Who are some local players we can potentially have a look at?
