Tuesday night sees Bognor commence their Sussex Senior Cup campaign with a home game to Haywards Heath Town The visitors were formed in 1888 under the name of Haywards Heath Juniors. In 1894 they reolaced the Junior part with Excelsior. This remained their name till 1989 when they changed again to their current name Haywards Heath Town. The clubs early years were playing the Mid Sussex league, then the Brighton and District Leagues before moving on into the Sussex County League. They were then promoted into the Isthmian South League in 2017/18 season. At the present time they sit in 17th place in this league with 13 points from 13 games. Their away form this season has seen 1 win, 1 draw and 4 defeats.
Former Bognor players Tom Cadman, Keiron Rowe and Ricardo Texiera are in their 22/23 squad.
There must be a result on the night so no replay.

This will be the first meeting since 1981, a 5-1 home win for the Rocks in the FA Cup preliminary round.
This will be the fourth meeting in the Sussex Senior Cup and there hasn’t been any shortage of goals in the previous three. In 1946/47 we drew 5-5 at Nyewood Lane followed by a 0-5 loss in the replay. In 1951/52 we beat them 3-2 in the semi-final at Horsham before losing the final. In 1978/79 we drew 1-1 at the Lane, losing the replay 2-3. Therefore they were the last team to beat us before our run of five successive years of winning the trophy in the 80s. In 1986 we played at Haywards Heath in the semi final, losing to Hastings.

Well a 3.0 win and into the next round! The groundstaff did an amazing job in getting the game on, and in general the pitch held up fairly well to allow both teams to try and play some entertaining football. The game can best be descibed as an efficient job done. Goals by Tom Chayale, Harvry Whyte and a screamer by Matt Paterson were the the Bognor heroes. Special mention to Heath's keeper Billy Collings who was superb throughout. Squad players got valuable game time, but the highlight was James Crane playing his 500th game. Onwards we go and now to the important business of Lewes in the FA Trophy this Saturday.

A job well done.
Could and should have been more, but their keeper making more than 5 very good saves. Respect to Haywards Heath, still trying to play and not go down the route of silly fouls etc.
Massive Congrats to Craney reaching 500 games in a Rocks shirt, unbelievable achievement in todays game. 💚

Really good result in a very competitive game could & maybe should have gone in at half time several goals up but credit must go to an outstanding performance by their goalie. However worrying that for long spells in the second half we were second best & particularly in midfield lots of passes going astray Heath had most of the possession & put us under considerable pressure. A penalty shoot out against their goalie was a scary prospect. We eventually got back into it & what a lovely goal from Matt showing what can be achieved with a bit of composure in the box.

Thanks to our groundstaff for getting the pitch fit after a torrent of rain. Its made my job as Match Secretary much easier. Had it been postponed it would have given me a serious headache.

So that's why it was you that did the pitch inspection!

Apologies. I told my scriptwriter it wasn't a very funny quip.
