Saturday sees Bognor continue in cup competitions as they travel to The dripping Pan to play Sussex rivals Lewes in the 2nd round of the FA Trophy. The hosts were formed in 1885 and again played their football in the Mid Sussex League, and then the Bighton and Districts leagues. Lewes have played as high as the National Premier League in the early 2000's they went down to National South and the dropped as low as Div 1 Isthmian South league like Bognor did. In 2017/18 Lewes were promoted back into the Isthmian Premier league.
In the previous round Bognor beat 2nd placed Southern Premier League club Weston Super Mare 2.1 away, whilst Lewes went through on penalties at home to 3rd placed Southern Premier League club Chesham United. League form also indicates how closely matched the 2 clubs are as Lewes 22 points from 15 games, while Bognor have 19 points from 14 games. Last season in the league Bognor won 1.0 at Nyewood Lane, and lost 2.0 away. The previous year the clubs shared the points with a 2.2 at the lane and a 3.3 draw away. Looking at all the stats between the 2 clubs it would that a tight game is likely to be played. There has to be a result on the day so penalties will come straight into play with no extra time.
The supporters club are running a coach to the game leaving the Lane at 12.30pm. To book a seat contact Ken Wood or Dave Robinson.
