A thoroughly deserved victory but the lads earned it the hard way.
We had a perfectly good goal disallowed in the 5th minute, the ref saying the keeper was fouled (Tommy has video proof there was no-one next to him when he fell) but in the next minute Nathan tucked away a rebound which had hit the crossbar.
Even before then, Killian had needed to make two excellent diving saves, but the warning signs weren't heeded as the home side levelled in the 9th.
The rest of the first half was nip and tuck without much end product apart from an almighty scramble which saw a Rocks shot cleared off the line, but we dominated after the break. In one early second half attack the home keeper made a great save and the nest two rebound efforts hit post and bar. There was also another cleared off the line and at least another frame rattler.
Rocks played all the football in the second half, but it looked like our luck was out and we'd have to settle for a frustrating draw until super sub Matthew (as announced by the posh lady tannoy announcer) sent the ball netbound in the 85th to the obvious joy of the Green Army.
If that was typical of their play, I hope Corinthian-Casuals go down. Nothing corinthian in their style of play, especially their talentless football-preventing lunk of a centre-half wearing 5, and they should have had at least three bookings for persistent, relentless tripping and foul play. As you can imagine, the completely clueless ref didn't give a single yellow card all game.
Well battled, lads. Hopefully the turning point.
