Well at long last we got this fixture played.Having lost the right to stage the fixture Bognor travelled down to Eastbourne as both teams changed their teams around to give players match time. Straight from the kick off; just 9 seconds into the game Bognor went behind as debutant keeper Thomas was beaten. The ex Horndean, Carshalton and Aldershot keeper was kept busy early on as Eastbourne had all the early play while Bognor took time to settle down. A glorious strike by Sam De St Croix equalised for the Rocks as half time approached. 1.1 at half time. Second half Bognor produced a training ground masterclass. Swift inter movement; sharp passing and precision shooting saw further goals by Sam De St Croix (2), Nathan Odonkonyero (2) and Alfie Bridgman saw Bognor build up a 6.1 lead which could have been greater. A late goal by Eastbourne bought a slightly more respectable score at the final whistle. Another fine performance by the Rocks who followed on from Saturday's game in a much more confident mood. Onto Saturday's home league game against an improving Brightlingsea side in a confident mood and hopefully this form can continue.

Such a shame that, having used the 'three postponements and the tie's at our place' card which was their prerogative, Borough appear to have (for want of a better word) disrespected the cup and the opposition by putting out virtually a youth team, whereas Bognor's side had just three changes from Saturday with just the keeper not a regular starting eleven / squad player. Still, a morale boosting win for the Rocks.

Not sure how the development of young players is disrespecting the competition. Clubs like Eastbourne and Worthing should be applauded for their youth policy. How on earth does a young player improve without being given first team opportunities and the county cup provides a competitive environment. It’s no coincidence that both are performing well at Step 2 with players they have developed.

I take your point, and I did say I was looking for a better word.
The fact Borough put out a relatively inexperienced side having gained home advantage after the 'three postponements' rule (something Bognor have also done in the past) didn't quite sit right with me.
Maybe if Borough had played something like a half-and-half mix of experience and youth, rather than ending up with a full youth team following substitutions (if I read the match report right)?
Just my opinion, though. Sounds like Borough were on top for at least the first quarter of the game.

Regardless of the average age of the Eastbourne Borough side that’s an impressive away day scoreline. Think we also need to take into account,we also have a very young squad. Which probably works against us when we play the “bigger sides” in our league.
What’s more impressive in recent games,is the creating of chances especially at casuals/E Boro and scoring 6 away from home again. Hopefully we’ve turnt a little bit of a corner,a kinda biggish game down near the bottom this weekend for us,win and that’s a good return in a week. Followed by bishops stortford at home who are having another very good season at this level anything from that game is a bonus.
Anyway spread the word, bring a mate and get behind the lads.
Up The Rocks. 💚
