Bognor take on top of the table Bishop Stortford F.C. on Tuesday night.Steve Smith brings the Blues down from Hertfordshire, with a record similiar to the Rocks over the last 3 games. All win and scoring 12 goals in the process the same as us. The Blues have had a successful history having been formed in 1874, several times reached the 1st round proper of the FA cup and from 2011 to 2017 played in the National league. At the present time 22 seperate the 2 teams although the Rocks have a couple of games in hand. Last season The blues beat the Rocks up in Herts whilst the two teams played out a 0.0 draw at the lane. Hopefully there will be goals this season under the lights!! Lets get the fans down to the ground and behind the team.

Well let's be honest who saw that result coming? Yet again another magnificant 2nd half performance. In fairness Bognor started off better than in recent games but failed to put away early chances. As the half wore on; and with an injury to Magri Stortford came more into the game and their fast counter attacking play gave the visitors the upper hand. They took the lead on 39 minutes when the lack of height allowed their forward head in.2nd half Stortford continued on the front foot but this time Bognor looked dangerous on the counter attack. The eualiser came on 79 minutes when a superb cross by McCormick was superbly controlled by Odonkonyero who cooly stroked home into the far corner. With 6 minutes extra time in the 2nd minute of it another brilliant cross, this time from Chayale set Odonkonyero up with a simple header to put Bognor ahead. Good game management saw Bognor home despite Stortfords new found interest to get the ball forward. Overall a superb victory, and a great team effort. It was clear why Stortford are top of the league but every Bognor player put in a shift. Onto Saturday away to Haringay. The Rocks are slowly putting together a little run and a victory Saturday will see the team leap frog the hosts and move up the league.

In all honesty a point would've probably been fairer but 2 immense crosses led to 2 superb goals and nicked all 3 points.stortford were big and strong and its easy to see why they are flying high.i felt we matched them 1st half except for the goal but they dominated us for 25mins at start of 2nd.the boys hung in there and got a majestic equaliser against the run of play from Nathan who swivelled on a sixpence with his back to goal to fire low into the corner.the cross from josh was superb.from then on we went for it and bar the odd scramble at our end we looked the more likely side to win.another beautiful cross, this time from chalaye was met by Nathan to head back across the keeper in the 92nd min to send the rocks faithful into delirium.overall a great 3 points on a very cold night.stortford for me were the best of the sides at the top end of the table that we have played so far and I personally feel they have what will be needed to claim the title, thus making the result even more impressive.onto saturday now at haringey where we hope to continue this new found belief and try to move up the table.COYR

When Sam Magri went off, who would have thought we would end up winning the match. When Isaac replaced him it was difficult to see what formation we would be playing. We shouldn't have worried really, Harvey, Robbo and Joe Rabets defended magnificently for the rest of the match. There is a resilience in our side now that won't be denied, and it is noticeable how many late goals we get. Bishops Stortford were physically strong and very direct, however I thought they lacked the sort of player who can pick a pass and punish a defence. I think their physicality has probably got them this far, however they may need to find the sort of subtle player who can unlock a defence. Loading the box and slinging it or crossing it in won't always work. Still a fantastic 3 points for the boys.

Another 3 points and another injury. We seem to be jinxed again this season with some serious injuries and I feared for even worse when Harvey went down. He showed what a clubman he is to get up and play centre back with a gritty display.
Once again we showed a huge resilience and came back strongly in the final 20 minutes where our new fitness levels and team spirit were there for all to see. Although we had to defend valiantly after the stoppage time winner we saw the win through. It was like trench warfare at the end!
Stortford are a very strong side with lots of skill. They are setting the standard in this league and imo will win the league. It was a severe test for our lads and they were asked serious questions. Its the standard we know we have to achieve and last night showed we are on the right track. We have brought in experience to add to the youngsters. We should keep this run going and finish as high as we can. I believe we have the basis for a strong season next season and with additional experience added to the squad plus a season of experience at this level under their belts the youngsters will be in a much stronger place. Onwards and upwards.

I nearly talked myself out of going. Good job I changed my mind. We could easily have lost it near the end. They hit the crossbar when the scores were level and were unable to force home the rebound. But credit our lads for sticking to the task. Shame we couldn't have played like this earlier in the season as we would now be in the play-off pack.

But credit our lads for sticking to the task. Shame we couldn't have played like this earlier in the season as we would now be in the play-off pack. It is dingle, but despite going looking for more experienced players and not being able to get them, we have had a very young squad and some longish injuries. I appreciate that you have heard all this before but it is an indisputable fact of being on the south coast and having to live within a budget. Fortunately, we have been able to attract some players lately which has improved the squad. What we can't control is the bad luck we are having with injuries. As I said and it is only my opinion, but how unlucky have we been with these injuries. McCleod now out for a very long time, Harvey being out for a longish period, and Calivn the same. The list goes on and on, and that is a huge lot of experience out of a young squad. I only know the frustration we have all felt but unfortunately, some people will always start the blame game and start criticizing and calling for peoples heads when results are not going the way we want them to go, but for me it doesnt matter, thats their right but surely people must understand that we cant go out buy players and spend a fortune on wages. If you read the Non League paper you will only be too aware of the struggles of a large number of clubs that have tried to spend their way out of a league but look whats happened. Only this week I see one of our neighbors is in difficulty and is asking their fans and community to help them out financially. These are difficult times for all clubs trying to stem the ever increasing financial burdens as things are getting more expensive. We are lucky to have people on this committee that will not let that happen to this club.

Yep, agree with everything you say there Pete. I've never called for sackings or 'heads to roll' etc. It's a well run club and long may that continue. I only occasionally come to matches but the players always give 100 per cent when I see them and you can't ask more than that. The south coast argument could be valid although our friends at Worthing seem to be doing okay this season. Transport links to Worthing, Eastbourne and Havant are probably better and maybe that has something to do with it.

Quite possibly Dingle. Im all for clubs who have benefactors such as the guy at Dorking and the one that was at Eastleigh. Building a club with their own money and not then walking out when the team isnt successful. Nothing against that, but the point I'm making is that clubs are their own enemies and the people on committees/ directors who pay to much to attract players and then fall behind with their taxes putting them in danger of folding. Our committee are sometimes blamed of being cautious, but I would sooner have that every day of the week than finding ourselves in serious danger.
