After we play Chichester Saturday we will go two weeks without playing a game,is there a plan for an extra game to be played or we happy to do the gap before the season starts?

We have been trying to find opponents for a game on Friday 4th/Saturday 5th, but it has proved very difficult. The National League, Southern League and FA Cup all start on the 5th so no teams other than in our own division seem to be available. One possibility is a behind-closed-doors training match with an EFL club which is being explored. Ideally Robbie would like a warm up match, without it being too strenuous.

Appreciate the reply thanks Simon. Behind closed doors friendly sounds amazing π

Just to clarify further, the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round on 5th August is swallowing up two thirds of the teams in the Isthmian South East, South Central and North Divisions as you had to finish roughly top ten in those divisions to get a bye to a later round.
The FA Cup has been 'remodelled' recently, so that virtually no side at step 6 (i.e. Southern Combination / Wessex Division One) are eligible any more. There were only seven Step 6 teams allowed into the competition this season.

Well a free PSF against, mmm, flansham park rangers. What on earth is going on - I swear i must be hallucinating. There is a real problem in that with FA Cup qualifiers and other leagues starting before ours getting a friendly was virtually a non starter, although it had been hoped we might get a behind closed doors friendly against a EFL academy team. Sadly this was not to be. Therefore rather than just have a training session, the club have managed to acquire the services of a West Sussex County League team, which will have a competitive edge to it than just a training session.

Yeah I mean I trust the judgement of the club but this is a team that, unless I am mistaken, are in the lowest/2nd lowest competative league available for saturday football? Sure it will be a fun experience for them, crazy its the best available option. Either way will be there for a couple of beers π

Just in case the Flansham game falls through, I understand Lagness Lacksadicals are willing to play a PSF against the Rocks. One slight problem is that their centre-half has lost his left boot and he is, understandably, hopping mad. If anyone has a spare left boot, size fifteen, please get in touch. It must be well dubbined, have wooden studs and lace up to the shin. Also, after the embarrassing incident during the last friendly, a spare pair of shorts for the centre-half would come in handy - 50 inch waist, to below the knee and, ideally, pre-mud splattered.

For the record, in case the lads are considering going for this, the club's biggest victory is 24β0 against Littlehampton in the West Sussex Senior League in the 1913/14 season.
I doubt we'll reach our record defeat of 19-0!

Reminds me of the fact that 25 years ago this month, we had a players versus fans friendly at the Nye Camp. Not a full 90 minutes if memory serves correct but the players won comfortably (believe it or not) with a scoreline of something like 13 or 14-1. The fans solitary goal coming from the penalty spot after yours truly was fouled - on the halfway line! Just as well we didnβt have VAR in those days.

Doesn't seem a problem for either Horsham or Lewes who have matches laid on....why are struggling?

We arent struggling at all. Weve had a full list of pre seasons of varying clubs. At first, it was decided to leave the week free before the league starting date. The coaching staff then decided they would like a game of some description just as a run out without it being too testing. As has already been stated, with the new organisation of the cup competitions, the leagues below us start earlier than they have done and this means it cut availability down to the bone.

To make this game interesting and a decent work out - should take a player off for every 5 goals ahead they get, could end the game with 11v7 π

Careful, lads. Flansham Park Rangers will be puffing their chests out.
Found out last night they've now been promoted to the West Sussex Division One (i.e. the third tier of the WSFL, at non-League step 10 compared to the Rocks at step 3).
