I think these stadium sponsorship naming rights work the best when the stadium itself is new e.g. the Amex, the Emirates, the Etihad etc as the name of the stadium is as new as the ground itself. It’s a bit trickier when the ground has been in existence already for almost 150 years! I know Worthing have had different ground sponsors over the last few years but I couldn’t tell you the latest one and I guess most of us still think of it as Woodside Road.
Nice piece of business by the club and I’m sure the MKM arena will feature in all the official pronouncements and articles emanating from the club from now on but I can’t imagine the fans will refer to it in any other name apart from Nyewood Lane.

Ive read some of the posts on facebook and cant believe people are moaning. Its revenue to the club which is wasnt budgeted for. It means the club has a little extra leeway in deals for players. Are some people so short sighted they cant understand what it means? Sure, its a change to the name of our fine stadium, but that doesnt mean people HAVE to change their own preference for what they call it.

Welcome MKM, great to have their sponsorship and now we are an arena, it would be good to build the stand at the end of the row.

If I'm not mistaken the MKM branch director Richard (Richie) Hellen was not a bad player himself in the old Sussex County League for Pagham, Littlehampton among others.
This is a win win situation for the club. Well done everyone involved.

Can't say that I've seen too many people moaning, and money is money after all. Judging by Jack's comments I hope the deal wasn't less than £30k a year over five years. Hopefully with the money coming in from the new plastic pitch, academy and other initiatives that were promised, we can raise the level of our game and come higher than 14th, but while people who think 14th "isn't bad" I am not getting my hopes up just yet.... Fingers crossed for a fantastic season. ps.... How much is left from the Asda money?

Pete, It was announced to the world when Jack announced he was standing down in Seasons. There was a presentation by Russell afterwards. Perhaps you weren't involved with the club then?

Great news! Equally amazing is the announcement by the Commercial Director of Lagness Lacksadasicals of a new sponsorship deal. Their ground, formerly known as Farmer Fred's Field, or the Three Effs, will now be known as The Budget And Ron Property Maintenance Olympic Stadium. The additional revenue will enable the Club to complete the goalpost erection at the Pig Stye end instead of having to use a pile of coats.

I think having so many good backers can only be a positive for the club and well done to all involved. I think most will still refer to the ground as Nyewood Lane but MKM Arena it is. The Nye Camp is also another favourite amongst fans and especially apt during the summer with the sun shining bright on our wonderful surface.
