Saturday sees Bognor back on the road as they visit The Movie Starr Stadium, Park Lane Canvey Island SS87PX to play the hosts.
Founded in 1926, The Gulls were promoted back into the Isthmian Premier league in 2021 /22 season having spent numerous seasons in the lower leagues. Their first season back saw them finish 3rd in the league and make the playoff final against Aveley. Here after a 0-0 draw in normal time Canvey were beaten 4-2 on penalties sending Aveley into the National South League.
Last season The Gulls had the better of the results against us. Coming from behind to beat us 3-2 at Canvey, and then a late goal sealed a 1-0 victory at the Lane.
This season has not been the start they had been expecting with just one victory in the seasons opening game 3-2 against Haringey Borough. Their other two games have seen a heavy 4=1 defeat at Dulwich Hamlet, and a 2-1 defeat at Kingstonian on Saturday. With 3 points they lie in 15th place just above the Rocks.
Their star players are their deadly forwards Evans Kouassi and Bradley Sach.
The supporters club are running a luxury coach to the game. Seats are still available on it. See away day travel or contact Dave Robinson or Ken Wood to book a seat

The games are coming thick and fast and now Dan Smith is injured again, this will let someone else like Mather take the season by the scruff of the neck and take it to teams over the coming months. Canvey are always difficult to play against away as we saw last season. But I am hopeful of another point at least. Always remember that big win we had at Canvey when Elijah Adebayo got a hat-trick. Its Jasper's turn this time. Come on lads!

Well we went, we played and we conquered, I will try and generate a more accurate report to yesterdays game rather than the one that originally appeared. New signings Gifford and Rabbets went straight into the line up in place of the injured Smith and Whyte. Howick came in to replace the suspended Douglas, whilst Mather came in for Sam De St Croix. On a good pitch in brilliant sunshine Bognor started off at a rapid pace with wide men Pattenden and Olaniyan causing early problems. In only the 3rd minute a good clearing header from Howick was met by a forward pass from Burgess and Gifford beat the offside trap to slot Bognor ahead. Rabbets and Olaniyan linked well down the left causing all sorts of trouble for the hosts as they were generally on the back foot. on the rare ventures into the Bognor half Robson, Howick and Anderson looked more than capable of dealing with them. Disaster struck in eleventh minute when Pattenden took a bad knock to the ankle and had to leave the field of play. Sam De St Croix came on, and whilst still settling down his first touch in the 13th minute was poor and allowed Evan Kouassi to fire past a unsighted Hall in the Bognor goal. This turned out to be Canvey's only shot on goal in the whole game !!! Bognor playing some of their best football of the season took this in their stride and continued to press forward. Skipper Davies and Burgess were superb in the middle of the park, whilst Olaniyan caused the defence so many problems. It came as no surprise when Bognor regained the lead in 17th minute Isaac Olaniyan cutting in from the left and unleashing a unstoppable shot from 25 yards into the goal. A game of cat and mouse followed as Bognor constantly went forward, Gifford and Maher constantly causing problems, and the home keeper making several fine saves. Bognor's only problems were self made when they sometimes overplayed. The game was made safe in the 42nd minute when another good pass by Burgess set up Sam De St Croix, who redeemed himself for his earlier error and slotted home. The 2nd half was unfortunately a bit of a anti climax as Bognor saw out the game, and despite missing a couple of good chances were rarely under pressure from a lack lustre Canvey side.Final scor Canvey Island 1 Bognor Regis Town 3. On another day this game could have easily finished 5 or 6 /1. The Bognor team were superb on the day and man of the match could have easily gone to any of the team. Hopefully the team can replicate this against a strong Lewes team on Monday. However, even though the side are still gelling there is a feel around the fans that manager Blake has assembled one of the strongest squads at the Lane for a long time.
