After the delights of a gutsy performance at Folkestone we entertained Margate with a chance of making headway into the teams above us.
However it would seem as so many times this season we have no idea as to which team will turn up for Bognor!!!
Without a doubt the management team have put together a squad on paper which looks as strong as any we have seen for many seasons. Unfortunately our lack of consistency keeps shooting us in the heel.
Bognor could not have asked for a better start; Lucas scoring a screamer to give us the dream start. Without a doubt he is our player of the season son far.
Would we build on this was the question? Alas not, we sat back and despite a couple of half chances looked unlikely to score. Yet again a poor defensive error allowed Margate back into the game. Thanks to a couple of smart saves by Ryan, we in 1.1 at half time.
2nd half, poor decision making by both teams despite a lot of huffing and puffing the game looked to be filtering out into a 1.1 draw.
Then the ref who certainly liked to be the centre of attention with some interesting decisions which bewildered everybody in the ground with a penalty to the visitors, even the Margate management were speechless. 2.1 down and a defeat staring us in the face.
This sparked a bit of urgency into the team and a late rally. efforts came and were missed until the 87th minute when Bognor were rightly awarded a foul in the box.
Up steps Dan Gifford and 2.2 and a point saved, The lack of consistency in my opinion is a real worry, because we never know which team will turn up. Without a doubt when we click we are more than equal to any team in the league. When we don't it is hard watching which is a shame when you look at the ability of the team
Still onto Dulwich on Saturday in anticipation that a big crowd and big game will see our team raise their game. Oh the joys of being a Rocks fan !!
