Unfortunately in all our cup matches this season against lesser opposition we have been dreadful. We have not turned up for any our cup matches against Burgess Hill; South Park or Littlehampton and been thrashed in all of them. As Goldy says be interesting to see the reaction on Saturday.
Good luck to Littlehampton against Hastings

Prior to this evening we'd kept 4 clean sheets in a row, 7 wins on the bounce and one loss in the last 15 league games.
Nobody wants to lose but, in my view, we could have done without tonight’s fixture, and it came too soon after a hard-fought match on Saturday. A positive is that we finished it without injuries, and we don’t have to navigate another Saturday/Tuesday fixture week.
Players aren’t robots and it just shows we mustn’t take anything we are achieving for granted.
Whether a popular opinion or not, we can’t have everything. I’d rather be 3 points outside the Play-Offs with 2 games in hand, than 3 points above the relegation zone and in the semi-final of the Sussex Senior Cup.

The thing is, if this run of form was going to lead eventually to shitting the bed this was the game for it, if they come out saturday and get 3 points - Fecking it. crap happens. Longer term theres a thing that needs looking at as at this level cup competitions can be huge lottery tickets for income so consistently losing to lower league teams is obv not ok (agg score over those 3 games is what 12-2?)

I’ve just seen the date of the semi-final announced as Tuesday 12th March.
This would mean that, had we have got through yesterday, we’d be playing Hornchurch (Saturday, H), Senior Cup semi-final (Tuesday, A) and then Wingate & Finchley (Saturday, A). Both league games, potentially, having a big influence on the Play-Off’s. We can now prepare entirely focused on those matches, without having to sandwich in a County Cup game and run the risk of fatigue, injuries etc.
Hastings, on the other hand, now have to play Billericay (Saturday, H), the Senior Cup semi-final (Tuesday, A) and then Chatham (Saturday, H). Just how critical could that additional fixture prove in their ability to navigate those big 6 pointers?
We all want to win every game but, sometimes, there’s a silver lining to individual disappointments. Keep calm and carry on.

And when you see it like that I couldn’t agree more, yes to lose is crap,to lose 6-1 is actually awful. BUT if we get the reaction we’re hoping for,all will be forgotten. Maybe a little eye opener for the players, that aren’t Sussex based (not a dig) but clubs like LA/Chi will up their games for the local derby. Anyway onto Saturday Up The Rocks.
