… after beating Solihull Moors in the National League play-off final - thanks in no small measure to former Rocks ‘keeper Grant Smith, who saved twice in in the penalty shoot-out after the sides drew 2-2.

Well done to Bromley. As well as Grant Smith manager Andy Woodman has a connection with Rocks from his playing days and is quoted as saying some years ago that Jack was the 'best manager he'd ever played under'.
Although they are used to travelling long distances in the National League there is an even bigger northern based bias in League Two with very few clubs in the south.

I was pretty sure Andy Woodman played for The Rocks for a while but his Wikipedia page doesn't mention the club - unlike Grant Smith's page.
Given the Bognor heritage there, any chance on leaning on Bromley for a pre-season friendly? Just a thought.

Given the Bognor heritage there, any chance on leaning on Bromley for a pre-season friendly? Just a thought. He spent a season on loan from Palace in the early 90s. But then Wiki isn’t always the most reliable of sources. Woodman did also play against us at the Lane for Thurrock in the first conference south era. On the Bromley subject, I came across a film on Netflix last year called the Bromley Boys, based on a true story of a young fan following Bromley in the late 60s. There’s quite a number of well known names starring in it like Alan Davies and Martine McCutcheon. There were a lot of factors I could relate to in that film having also followed a certain non league club at a similar age! Well worth a watch if you haven’t seen it.
